Great American Meatout – March 20 The Great American Meatout is the world’s largest and oldest annual grassroots diet education campaign. Every spring, thousands of Meatout supporters educate their communities and ask their friends, families, and neighbors to pledge to “kick the meat habit (at least for a day) and explore a wholesome, nonviolent diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
April – New York City Vegetarian Food Festival Early April – just started in 2011. 2012 was great so we sure hope it will continue to be annual!
April 22 – Earth Day Some will remember the original Earth Day on the March equinox decades ago. Many celebrations are moving to an Earth MONTH in April, which is even better! Dare we hope for taking care of Mother Earth year round?!

End of September – Hug A Vegan Day PETA2 sponsors Hug-A-Vegan Day. Until 2013 it was Hug-A-Vegetarian Day and lots of colorful tshirt designs were available. Veganism is more in keeping with their mission. Learn more by clicking the logo.
